Welcome to Caribou Maine, The Northeastern most City in the U.S. "There are no caribou around Caribou."

Caribou might not be known for it's number of people, or it's number of jobs, but it is known for one thing and that is that it is the Northeastern most City in the U.S. located just miles from the Canadian border.

Here is a little bit of facts about our city:

Caribou is a city in Aroostook County. Caribou's bordered on the north and west by the Aroostook River, and on the south and east by the towns of Presque Isle and Fort Fairfield.

Settlers from New Brunswick, Canada began settling the area in the 1820s. The town was incorporated as Lyndon in 1859, and was changed to Caribou in 1877.

Attractions are mostly outdoors-related, such as hiking, skiing, and snowmobiling. There's also the Nylander Museum of Natural History.

The population of Caribou is approximately 9415. The approximate number of families is 4089.

The amount of land area in Caribou is 205.362 sq. kilometers. The amount of surface water is 2.298 sq kilometers. The distance from Caribou to Washington DC is 727 miles. The distance to the Maine state capital is 196 miles. (as the crow flies) Caribou is positioned 46.86 degrees north of the equator and 67.99 degrees west of the prime meridian.
