Ring of Magnetism Traditional Cache

Parking is best at Vale Royal Golf Club visitors car park and walk down the lane to the river. Signal will be lost frequently during the walk, but the signal is wonderful nearby. The walk down is a gravel track and tarmac road, and is ideal for little children. An alternative route is to park at the Red Lion pub in Winsford and do a few caches together in a 6-7 mile walk.

The cache is a small snap-sided sandwich box painted grey, which contains a logbook, pen, pencil and sharpener. It also contains various small goodies. Please ensure anything you bring is small (and I mean small!)

The cache is close to the recently restored Vale Royal Locks. For many years only the larger of the two locks was available to craft using the Weaver Navigation. Following extensive civil engineering works during 2009 the smaller of the locks has now been returned to service.

The lock keepers cabin has a board listing sightings of unusual birds, and dragon and damselflies in the window. During 2009 a pair of Hobbys were seen in the vicinity of the locks. If you see any unusual, for the area, birds let the lock keepers know so they may keep an eye out for them.
