This cache is a tribute to Liminal Man… you know, that guy
that brings us to the ends-of-roads and leads us down
paths-less-taken. This cache isn’t for LM's 1000th find or
anything; rather it’s just a ‘thank you’ for the
enjoyment that his hides provide.
Liminal Man still remains in general anonymity, yet we’ve
learned so much about him: he enjoys powdered milk chocolate drinks
and he's devised alternative uses for childrens' bicycle
inner-tubes. He also has a penchant for testing your powers of
observation whilst requiring you to employ your best counter-muggle
techniques. Some of his caches are in such odd locations that you
must consult aerial images, paper maps, and even local citizens in
order to figure out your route to the cache. “How do I get
there? Where the heck am I? Oh yeah, it’s a Liminal Man
cache”.
So, LM, here’s to you. Thanks for showing us the quiet paths,
the lonesome roads, and conversely the high-traffic areas -- no pun
intended... and for otherwise providing all the other trials &
pleasures in geocaching. After 4 years of email conversations with
you, it was nice to actually meet you in August 2009.
NOTES:
- See the Additional Waypoints section for parking &
trailhead.
-- Notice that the “road” ends abruptly at the
trailhead, and then you’ll walk on a slant as you pass under
the nearby bridge. I normally walk slanted, so it was no big deal
to me.
- The cache is located along a little-used trail that Liminal Man
has probably already scouted. It's not yet an official mountain
bike trail, but you MAY have to clear the path if a biker-scout
happens along.
- This ammo can cache was not placed by bicycle, but
still: ride to live – live to ride. CITO
