250ft Elev gain, .3mi hike to cache
I keep seeing TFTC in log files... NOW I know what it means...
"Tanks For The Cache!" So, that must mean there should be a cache
at this water 'Tank', now there is.
Located west of La Sierra and El Sobrante, you can park near the
intersection and hike or bike up. If you look, you can see a paved
access road and a dirt road leading up. The MWD security chases
M/Cs out with a warning if they can catch them. They don't care
about mountain bikers or hikers. You will climb 250ft and go behind
the tank where an ammo box (painted camo) awaits you in the rock
pile.
When hidden, it was stocked with a real shell necklace, clips,
toys, magnet, glasses repair kit, pliers, gold tokens, music CD,
cloth camo swag bag, and a TB.
As in all rocky hillside areas, this one is no exception, snakes
have been seen in the area. Use common sense before reaching into
rock piles and watch your trail. Once at the cache, you will have
one GREAT VIEW of Lake Matthews. (See photo gallery and
"Tanks-4TheCache" taken from GZ on the evening of the hide -
looking southeast over the lake towards Gavalin Hills.
