This cache has one intermediate step, which will make it easier and
safer to get to the final destination - and learn some local
history along the way! The power of the Skippack Creek was
harnessed to run water-driven mills to supply the needs of the
early settlers. Keyser Mill was used to grind grain.
Park at coordinates listed below. Then go to main coordinates
listed above and carefully read the information on the plaque on
the front of the building. What year was the building constructed?
Divide the year by 1000 and add this number to coordinates N40
09.082 to get the latitude for the final cache location. Example,
if the year was 1776, add 9.082 + 1.776 to get 10.858, or N40
10.858 for latitude. Likewise, take the year the building closed
and apply the same calculation to W75 23.334 to get the correct
longitude for the cache.
After doing the math and entering the new coordinates into your
GPS, walk past the right side of the building down to the water and
enjoy the view of "Eight arches bridge". This bridge was built in
1792, and is the oldest bridge in continuous, heavy use in the USA.
Now, follow your GPS to the one gallon jug cache.
