Cascade Falls Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
Cascade Falls is located about 8 miles NE of Bergland on Cascade Creek just before it joins the Middle Branch of the Ontonagon River. There are two well-marked paths to the falls, one strenuous, one moderate. Terrain rating is based on the moderate Valley trail. Driving directions are below.
Cascade Falls provides a two-for-one experience; beautiful panoramic views from a bluff overlooking the valley (optional) and a nice waterfall in a peaceful setting. For those up to the challenge, the Bluff trail climbs high above the valley below, offering numerous views along the way before dropping back down to rejoin the Valley path. The Valley path is considerably shorter and much flatter, although it still has a few dips and tree roots to contend with.
The cache is an ammo box located a short distance from the falls. Please hide it as well or better than you find it. Initial contents include a 2-pack of card games, flashlight w/ batteries, modeling clay, Tonka truck on a key chain, a large Army man, wind chime, and tennis ball dog toy. Don’t forget to sign the log book!
Directions to Cascade Falls:
From Bergland, travel East on M-28 just over a mile to Forest Hwy 400. Turn left (North) and follow USFS 400 for about 7 miles to the entrance road marked by a Cascade Falls sign. This intersection is located near 46deg 39.560, 89deg 27.369. The sign will be on your left, the entrance road on your right. Park at the end of the entrance road. The trails to the falls are clearly marked.
