Geocache Description:

You can park within 20-30 feet. Use stealth if people are grouped in the area (uncommon occurence).

From the top of Whitney Mountain you can see miles up and down Beaver Lake. Feel free to walk around the grassy yard and take a bit of time to see this inspirational and magnificant view.
Years ago, before the lake was built, local people wanted to build a road across the White River for a shorter route to Eureka Springs. A politician stated that if elected he would build a bridge across the river. He was elected and did build the bridge and a road to it from the west. However, the adjoining county, being of a different political party declined to continue the road in their county. The bridge was initially called "Lost Cause Bridge" and later shortened to "Lost Bridge". After flooding washed out this bridge, another was built. The filling of the low river lands for Beaver Lake buried this "problem" and the local people lost their riverfront picnic area. The bridge now sits under 180 feet of water slightly to the right and centered in the lake.
