Geocache Description:

the cache is hidden on a lonely farm road north of marysville. the last part of your drive will be on a gravel lane. i trimmed back the brambles, but be careful as they have a tendency to grow back.

as i placed this cache near a depression era bridge, farm land all around me, a train rumbling in the distance, it made me think of earlier times. i remember when gas was 20 cents per gallon, a new car cost less than $3,000, a new house less than $15,000. i remember the iceman coming twice a week with ice for our icebox--a time before electric refrigerators. there was no television, but a wonderous and mysterious box called a radio. we would listen to fascinating programs such as inner sanctum, the green hornet, and i love a mystery. we had chickens in our backyard, and most sundays we would enjoy chicken and dumplings. we had an old cow, so even when times were tough we would always have fresh milk. i remember when we knew all the neighbors and you didn't hesitate if you wanted to borrow a cup of sugar or a tool for working on your car. i remember a simpler time when all of your hygiene needs could be accomplished with a bar of ivory soap. i remember when children could safely walk to school and back. it all seems like a former lifetime. what ever happened to those days...?!

when you log, please share a memory or two from the good ol' days. now and then it is fun to take a trip down memory lane. what do YOU remember?
