Geocache Description:

Excerpt from Those Were The Days! by Will Anderson:
Opened in August of 1962 by Don Dorsey, the Dorseyland is usually recalled around town as the more "risque" of Caribou's two drive-ins. And for good reason: by 1965 the theatre was showing the likes of Sinderella and The Golden Bra, and Room 43 ("Nothing Hidden!...Neither the Sin nor the Shame!). A man who recalls many Dorseyland years is Roland Cyr, Jr., the theatre's projectionist from 1965 to 1970. "One evening I was closed up," he says with a chuckle. "The police chief stopped the show and took possession of the (x-rated) movie. It was okay with me: I got an evening off and got paid for it." ANother happening that Roland recalls was the locally-renowned Chain Saw Incident. "The theatre had a big wooden screen," he relates. "One winter somebody took a chain saw and cut down the screen's supports. The whole thing collapsed. We never did find out who it was that did it." The Dorseyland changed proprietors and name in 1981-1982. It became the Hilltop Drive-In, remaining in operation until 1989. On its former site there is now an ACAP (Aroostook County Action Program) facility.
