I Can See Four sMiles Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

miatabug: It's time to let this one go. Twelve years ago, I was visiting this area on a regular basis and had local assistance. Now I visit a few times a year. Thanks to all who have found the cache. We hope it brought smiles. It was good to see the final in good shape after all this time.

Geocache Description:

I don’t think The Who ever thought of geocaching when they wrote their song, but Chris K in Geauga thought of this song when we discussed this cache. This is the third of four caches planned to celebrate the smiley. The first was a puzzle, the second a regular, and now a multi. It is also the first in Western New York and our first hide in the area. I have an office locally and spend quite a bit of time in my home away from home so I will be able to address any issues with the cache. If for some reason I am away for an extended period of time, Gryffindor1 has agreed to help maintain this cache.

NEOGEO cacher Chris K in Geauga has been caching since May 2005. Shortly after Chris joined the geocaching world, smiley balls began popping up in caches all over Northeast Ohio and Pennsylvania. We collect other cachers’ swag and traded for the first one we saw. After a while we decided to start trading for all the smiley balls we found in caches Chris had visited. Why? We did it to place these caches.

This cache requires no trades from you. To log this smiley, you only need to visit the cache, sign the log, and take a smiley item. The cache contains many types of smiley’s, including Chris K’s signature smiley balls. When Chris realized what we were doing, he was kind enough to provide us two boxes of these happy trade items. The sad news is that the smiley balls are no longer available so we will not be able to reload the cache with this item. We do, however, have tons of smiley swag to keep refilling. When you sign the log, there are smiley stickers in the cache so leave a smiley in the log for the cacher following you.

Geocaching is a fun game. Please enjoy this cache. We do hope you have a nice day.

The cache is located along the canal. You can park at either Gasport or Orangeport. There is no real advantage to either. The entire walk is flat. The terrain rating is only for the length of the walk. The entire walk will be in excess of 1.5 miles. The trail is heavily used, but you should be able to avoid muggles if you are careful. This cache is a three-stage multi. The final is a camo Lock-n-Lock container. This cache will bring you four smiles, one at each leg of the cache, and the fourth when you log it. As you are hunting, please remember this is a rock song.

Woo Hoo! Congrats to Dr. Evil 1 for a nice First To Find.

Major congrats and thanks to Gryffindor1 for finding this without the write-up and just the stage 1 coords before it was published.
