This is located in the Shepherd Lake section of Ringwood State Park.
Way, way back in the "OLD" days (1950's), when Shepherd Lake was privately owned, it was also a small ski resort. When the state took over, the ski resort was shut down and the lower part of the lift (now the boathouse) was dismantled. Over the years, the slope has become overgrown and most visitors are unaware of what it was. The upper parts of the ski lift are still there and the cache is hidden in that area. You will have to bushwhack a bit to get to the cache as there are no trails or paths going directly to it. You could start at the boathouse and bushwhack up the hill, but it is not recommended, as there is a wildflower planting there. The best approach is from the parking lot behind the chapel. Don't forget to use insect repellent before heading off for this and be careful not to wander onto the gun club property. It is posted as private property.
PLEASE NOTE: There is a parking fee from Memorial Day to Labor Day. There is no fee if you walk or bike to the lake.
