While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you and block other cachers from entering the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time I don’t think we can do so any longer. Therefore, I have archived this cache. If you haven’t done so already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

When repairs to this cache are completed, and it is time to have it listed once again it will be no problem as long as it still meets the guidelines. Just drop me a note( by email at Mongo@geocachingadmin.com) and let me know the GC waypoint number of the cache or better yet, the URL of the cache page. You will still be able to access your cache page just as before by going to your “My Cache Page” and clicking the link of your cache.

I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute to geocaching in the past and I am looking forward to seeing your cache up and running in the future.

Thanks for your understanding,
Mongo

How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

Located in St. Francois State Park, Bonne Terre, MO. This cache requires some minor to moderate exertion in scrambling over rocks, with a total 100' elevation change. All uphill to the cache and downhill back. No dangerous climbing required and the cache is not located immediately adjacent to the bluffs. Should take the average geocacher less than one hour.

This cache is located about 2500' into the park, off the Main Park Road, from Hwy 67. Parking is conveniently located in one of the picnic loops. The cache measures 114 yards from the parking lot to the final coords - all uphill. There is no trail directly to the immediate cache area; some scrambling up/through rock formations will be required; no technical or free climbing required. Cache is located in a safe area, however, the hike may not be suitable for small children. If you do this cache, I strongly recommend you follow the bluff south and then west for a beautiful view toward Bonne Terre.

St. Francois State Park is located north of Bonne Terre, adjacent to The Big River. It has three hiking trails, one of which is equestrian, that wind through the forested hills and glades of Coonville Creek Wild Area. There are many shaded picnic sites and two covered shelters. Two campground loops provide basic and electric camping, with modern restrooms, hot showers and laundry facilities.

Park gates close at 10 p.m. during the on-season and 9 p.m. during the off-season. Campers need to be sure to arrive prior to gate closure time.
