Geocache Description:

The purpose for having a cache in this location is to draw attention to this historic old church building and cemetary where many of my ancestors are buried.

This old church and cemetery date back to before the Civil War. The original 1857 building, which burned and was rebuilt in 1893, was renovated and enlarged in 1960, but remains in it’s original location. You will enjoy looking at the grave markers of local citizens from years past up to the present, but you will be saddened by the condition of many of the markers as time, neglect, and perhaps vandalism have taken their toll.

The cache is a plastic food storage container covered with camouflage tape. It contains a welcome letter, logbook and several trade items. It is hidden outside the boundary of the cemetery, but is easily accessible from there.
