Geocache Description:

This cache is located in Centennial Park, near the state campus. The purpose here is to see one of the largest trees of its type in Olympia. Named the Daniel J. Evans tree in honor of Governor Evans who served the state during the 1960’s and 70’s.

This is a very easy puzzle cache that can be solved quickly. The above coordinates will lead you to a sign at the corner of Centennial Park. You will need to gather some basic information in order to lead you to the final. As of 12/29/13, one of the sign lines was reported to be missing. The arithmetic was adjusted.

The coordinates to the final are: N 47 02.ABC W 122 53.DEF

A = number of words in the fourth line = (___)

B = number of words in the last line  (___)

C = number of words in the second line then subtract 4 = (___)

D = total number of lines then add 4 = (___)

E = number of letters in the first word of the fourth line then subtract 1 = (___)

F = number of words in the last line then subtract 2 = (___)

*** last line is the one about three inches from the ground ***

As of 2/5/21, the hide has moved to the base of the triple trunk alder.

Park hours are 6:00am to dusk. The area is patrolled by the Washington State Patrol. There is plenty of parking on Union Ave and 2-hour visitor parking on the south side of the park.
