Since this is my very first hide, constructive feedback is appreciated.
Since I have especially enjoyed caches that have taken me to places I didn't know and places where I could kick back for a while, I have chosen this place (and another cache I have placed nearby) to share with all of you who have hidden caches for me to find since I started caching this summer. (If you haven't hidden a cache yet, take the big step into the other half of our "sport." Thanks to BKip who, in his profile, encourages us to do this.)

DeSilva Island used to be an actual island (that is, completely surrounded by water) before the widening of Highway #101 and the building of the present Richardson Bay Bridge. When I first moved to the area, there was only one house on the island. The 34-acre island is now home to an exclusive, private 64-unit condo development which has recently been completed. Fortunately, the lengthy (25+ years) planning approval process included a substantial wildlife and nature preserve, nearby wetlands restoration and protection, and the addition of a BCDC public access nature trail (stop to read the exhibits along the way) and vista point. Protection was also given to a Native American archeological site, as well as egret and great blue heron nesting areas.

- The public access trail is only open from sunrise to sunset. It is the only way to access the cache.
- This is strictly a walk-in cache. (There is parking to the right of the entrance specifically set aside for trail users. There is no parking at the cache site nor car access to the island.)
- Please respect the island's residents and the fact that this is a sensitive wildlife preserve by staying on the trail. You will not need to leave the trail to retrieve the cache.
- Because this is a sensitive wildlife preserve, dogs are not allowed.
- You will need to bring your own writing device.
- Please be especially stealthy when retrieving and replacing the cache.
- And -- be sure to take a few moments to pause and enjoy the view.
