Once upon a time while I was strolling through the woods in
Algonkian Park, I saw a sad looking young blonde wandering around
looking at the ground. I asked her what was wrong and she told me
she was a Princess who had lost her magic sunglasses while hiking
and could not find them.
Of course, chivalrous person that I am (and humble too), I
volunteered to help out in the search (of course I was really
looking for possible cache hiding places anyway). I asked the
Princess where she had been hiking and she told me she started
"over there" and had walked around a bit looking at the beautiful
flowers before hiking down the access road to look for deer. We
wandered over to where she started and looked high and low to no
avail then headed down the road. After a good half mile hiking, I
had moved on ahead searching both sides of the trail when I heard a
little sheepish voice behind me say ... "Never Mind" ...
I turned and said "what"? The forlorn Princess, now smiling from
ear to ear, had opened her backpack and lo and behold .... there
were her magic sunglasses !!
Now I was never much of one to make fun of other people's little
foibles, but I couldn't help myself and broke out laughing. The
Princess's face grew red with embarassment, she thanked me for my
assistance and went her way while I stuck around and placed this
cache in her honor.
If one of you should meet a wandering Princess on one of your
hikes, be sure to wave, smile, give a big hello, and don't forget
to ask her if she has her sunglasses.
This cache was placed for the NoVAGO Fall Gathering.
