Land Navigation - Army Style #1 Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Rattlingcrew: This one slipped through the cracks of the GSAK searches by only having one DNF logged. It apparently had issues for a long time and an owner that has gone on to bluer skies, sounds like an interesting cache and location. Glen

Geocache Description:

A short stroll around Winfield Lake

This is the first of 3 Caches that will be placed in the area. It is the easiest but required to conduct the other 2 courses. Upon completetion you will be emailed (when the next course is set) the correct coordinates to the next start point.

All soldiers in the Kansas Army National Guard are educated on Land Navigation using a Map & Compass or a given Distance & Direction. Using this information they can move from Point A to Point B in a timely manner.

The information you will find is a Distance & Direction. You will become familiar with your GPS unit in how to input that information to conduct the course. Magellan GPS's uses "projection" to input the information. You will be looking for a 3" steel plate with the Distance (Top number in FEET) and Direction (bottom number in Degrees).

The cache contains items donated by the Kansas Army National Guard Recruiting & Retention Force. I do not require anyone to replace items in the Cache but please be considerate of others and do not empty the cache.

If you enjoy your walk and would like more information on becoming a soldier, there is information contained in the Cache to put you in contact with an area recruiter.

Good Luck and Happy Caching
