Geocache Description:

BETWEEN THE STONES

Cricket and I were headed home, down the Maben-Sturgis Road, just for a change of scenery.  We came upon one of my favorite spots along this stretch of lonely county road, and I realized it needed a geocache.  This area is rich in history.  Not far from this spot is the old town of Chestnut Log, now long gone.  Even the remnants of the last church disappeared some years ago.  Also nearby is the site of an intense battle between the Oktibbeha Plowboys and Union forces in the War Between The States.  This stretch of road is prominent on an 1860 map of the area, and except for the pavement, is pretty much as it was 140+ years ago.

Near the cache location is a spot Ole Miss fans will really appreciate.  It is the final resting place of a Mr. Sanford.  His plot is adorned with the likeness of Ole Miss's Col. Reb, as well as a small Col. Reb figurine.  Apparently he was quite an Oxford fan.

The cache container contains a log book and a pen. There's room for small travel bugs.  Please re-conceal the container just as it was found.  Please be discrete, as country-muggles may not comprehend what you're up to.
