Geocacher's Yearbook Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Cache_advance: I sent an email to the last finders who were grateful enough to let me know that they found it in the middle of the creekbed, some distance away from where the coords indicated. They took their best guess at where it should be, and tucked it back into place. This gave me hope that it might still be there.

Went back today and spent a second hour looking for this one, figuring I needed to expand my search. I looked in the roots of every tree along the creekbed within 100 feet of the original location, on both sides of the creek (which was a raging torrent today!) I hate to do this, but I think I need to archive this one now. I would like to put another cache in this location, but if someone else beats me to it, I won't hold a grudge. It was fun while it lasted!

Geocache Description:

A relatively short hike at Stid Hill Multiple Use Area in Bristol NY.

This cache is approximately .2 miles from the parking spot on Rt. 64, near Rt. 34 (N42 43.878, W077 23.935).

With all the clever nicknames, well hidden caches, and the pressure to complete your quests unnoticed, cachers often enjoy the anonymity that comes with the sport of geocaching. But this cache is for those dedicated cachers who have ever wondered who Golden Spike**, HFJohn**, Ferreter**, Bussey76** or Preston4** really were. It is dedicated to all of those people who like to put a face to a name.

In this cache, you are asked to add one 4x6 picture of yourself to the photo album provided, and also to include your Geocaching nickname. Please plan to drop a pic of yourself as your log, as the only log book is the photo album with labels provided to identify yourself and make any addtional comments about your visit. You will not be able to properly log your visit without providing a picture. This is NOT a trade item cache, there is, however, a photo related FTF prize. This is not intended to be an easy cache, and I will do the best I can to provide additional help to those who log DNF's.

According the the Department of Environmental Conservation:
The Stid Hill Multiple Use Area is a 847 acre tract of land situated in the townships of Bristol and South Bristol in Ontario County. It is bounded by Route 64 on the west and Dugway Road on the north. Ganargua Creek, better known as Mud Creek, flows along Route 64.

At one time, Stid Hill was productive sheep and cattle grazing land. Today the grazing has been eliminated. The mixture of steep hills, ravines, gullies, gorges, woods, and open areas create scenic vistas and also provide varied wildlife habitats.

Game species such as deer, grey squirrels, grouse, rabbits and turkey provide public hunting opportunities.

**Note: The names mentioned above were randomly selected from a list of caches hidden within the nearby vicinity of this cache. The inclusion or exclusion of any cachers on this list is completely random and is does not reflect any affiliation between the hider, Cache Advance, and the nicknames mentioned.
