Another off shore lighthouse a lovely area to walk along. Part of the Cornish Lighthouse series Cache contains a part co ordinate needed for the final push! Each cache may be claimed in its own right.
Godrevy guards a 11/2 mile reef (The Stones) on which the passenger steamer The Nile was wrecked with the loss of all hands in Dec 1854. Work started on the island (not the reef) in 1858 and was 86'0" high
At first the light was manned by two men but problems with relief led to it being increased to 3 in 1925 (what good that did I know not!) but by 1934 it was automated and is now maintained by helicopter visits.
