Just east of Sandstone, Minnesota, as you approach the Kettle River Bridge, turn left into Robinson Park. Down the road to a parking area and by foot north on a dirt road.
"FORTUNA" as an initial town name, later changed to SANDSTONE. The Hinckley Fire of 1894 destroyed the entire town so as they rebuilt at a new location they changed the name to Sandstone.
Between the highway and the high Railroad Bridge there is a city park called "Robinson Park" Surrounding land may be either part of Banning State Park, other City land or a few private parcels, mostly across the river.
After you park, walk north along the dirt road and you're in the area of a SANDSTONE QUARRY where my grandfather worked in the early 1900's. Fabulous stone bluffs and some artifacts of the quarry operation. A stone wall on your left but go to the right toward the river. The CACHE is mostly concealed within a pile of medium to small stone with moss, leaves and branches for a natural setting.
Sit down and enjoy a nice view of the river, lots of sandstone blocks, and up toward the high Railroad Bridge. When we placed the cache, a BNSF Coal Train crossed the bridge for added excitement.
