Ho! Fellow cachers, I am GeoSecretSanta!
We are approaching my favorite time of year, CHRISTMAS! It is time
to start a new event called Secret Santa Geocaching
Style!
What is this
all about?
One of the most
popular holiday games, Secret Santa is a fun and easy way for a
group of friends to exchange gifts. Let’s mix Geocaching with
this fun game!
How is this
going to work?
Here is the
order of the events. They will be better explained in the
sections below:
1.
First sign
up! This means log your visit as “Will Attend”. No
later than 11/24/06.
2.
Take the
survey.
3.
GeoSecretSanta
will draw names and let you know who you got.
4.
Have fun during
the game period!
5.
Attend the
event for the final exchange.
Taking the
survey…
The survey is a
helpful tool to let your Secret Santa know a little bit about
yourself. Please take a moment to fill out this online survey
(visit
link). Your information will then be sent to your
Secret Santa by me.
Drawing
names…
The last day to
sign up is 11/24/06. The day after, I will draw all the names
and send individual emails containing who you got and the
information from the survey. This is exciting
already!
The game
period…
There will be 4
different pre-defined locations for dropping Secret Santa’s little
gifts -- all in the Indianapolis area. The caches will be on each
side of town, and will be named Box #1 to #4. I am currently
working on setting these up. The reason for being pre-defined is
that the locations have to be easily accessible, so children can
also participate. The coordinates for these caches will be
given to you by email, when the time comes.
Now the fun
part! The game will be played during the period from 11/25/06 to
12/08/06. During this period, place little gifts to your
person in one of the pre-defined locations. There is no limit of
little gifts you can give, and little gifts can also be notes/cards
(Please be mindful of which BOX you leave their gift in and how
often). I am positive there will be a lot of very creative cachers
out there! Have fun during this time! Surprise your person and make
him/her wonder who you are!!! On an important note: Contact me when
you place a gift so I can post a note in this event to let your
person know that he/she should visit box #...
The Final
Exchange…
The final
exchange will be held on 12/09/06, Saturday.
Time = 2
PM.
The location is
on the posted coordinates. The place is a famous coffee shop
on Allisonville Rd. and 96th St.
I
am stipulating the total amount for each person to spend to be
$20.00. This should include the little gifts and the final
exchange.
Attend the
event and you will get a chance to win a
backpack containing the following:
3 waterproof match stick containers
a small compass
high beam lazer light (zipper pull)
1 orange gander mtn winter hat
camouflage duct tape
camping toilet paper
2 glow sticks
1 emergency rain poncho
camping wipes
heat packs (hand warmer)
