vanm: IMHO, this was a great cache in a great cache location. IMSpider, before he was caching, stumbled across this cache and became hooked. Congratulations to many of you who confronted a fear of heights to find this cache. Any all who visited had a really great view, even if it was hazy at times!
As I came by here this morning, I was torn between trying to fix the cache and archiving it. Although the few times it got wrapped around the tree maintenance was nearly impossible, I did not want to give up on this one.
The start of the trail is FULL of trash. But the trash petered out as I headed down the trail. I started out below to clean up. If you are inclined to explore, it is a very interesting area below the cliff. Surprisingly, the contents were all still tucked into the ziplock for easy cleanup! Also, surprisingly and depressingly, half the cache container was also on the ground. Schedule 40 PVC pipe, cracked. I had half thought that it was some critter that was playing mischief with the cache, but after seeing this damage I think it was more possibly muggles, of the beer-bottle-breaking variety. So my decision was made.
Back up on top, it was surprisingly easy to pry out my anchor rock and remove the last traces of the cache. I gave one last look to the view from here, and thus my most popular cache is now archived. I am confident that another cache will appear near this spot!
