Geocache Description:

While some of the facts about this cache site may be apocryphal, the cemetery is in fact the original Quaker Cemetery for the Newtown Quaker Meeting House. “In 1754 the West Side of Faunce Corner Road, one half mile north of the Smith Mills village, the land was purchased for the construction of the Newtown Quaker Meeting House. This building remained until about 1827, when it was taken down. However, the burial ground remains.” *

To find the Cache go to the waypoint given above.

There you will find the tombstone of one Ms. Rebecca Chace. Rebecca was a local legend in her day for her ability to forcibly expel corn kernels into the seams of a boat to seal leaks. This is believed to be the origin of the term ‘corn rows’ by early 19th century skiff men.

Take the last 2 digits of the birth-year for Rebecca Chace and subtract them from the north coordinate and add 35 back.
N = 41.38. XXX
Take the West Coordinate and subtract the same two birth-year digits and add back 84.
W = 70.59.XXX

Upon arriving at the second coordinate find the marker for Ms. Elizabeth Almy. Ms. Almy was another unique Dartmouth resident. Her secret for rendering hog lard into a moisturizing face cream gave birth to the term ‘smooth as a hog’s foot’ which is still used by older residents today when describing a smooth surface.

Find the complete number of years lived by Ms. Almay. Add the two digits together and add in two more for good measure. This should be added to the current coordinate number to produce the new ‘N’ coordinate.
N = 41.38.XXX
For the West coordinate add the same two digits and subtract five for good measure. Again, add this number to the last three digits of your current position.
W = 70.59.XXX

There you will find Tony’s Tomb! Good Luck!

UPDATE 2-14-12! Cachers: First, thanks for continuing to seek this great spot. I moved away from Dartmouth about 4 years ago and would love to have someone adopt this chache. If coords/final are now incorrect, please help by correcting the hide to coincide with my original spot. Cache drift!
