SARA’S RIDGE III Traditional Cache
tabhiker: Somebody major messed with the cache area. The cache is gone and no good place for a new container there. Well it had been there since 2006 which is a good life.

Great viewpoints from the nearby ridge along the ocean, especially of the nearby Longs Point, formerly the site of Marineland of the Pacific, and also the Pt. Vicente Lighthouse. Demolition of Marineland facilities was completed, and the 2-year project completed to construct a resort hotel and related facilities. called Terrannea which opened in June 2009.

This is the third version of this cache (thus the III) which until recently was a multi-stage cache. However, the WP #1 needed to get to the cache has disappeared leaving only the actual cache container.
Nearest parking places, both about 0.2 miles away, are 1) to the east, Pt. Vicente Fishing Area (no restrictions) and 2) to the west, the Pt. Vicente Interpretive Center (10AM to 5PM only.)
Once you have been to the cache site check out the great views from Sara’s Ridge which is reached by a distinct trail immediately to the east. The patio of the Interpretive Center is where volunteers do their whale census since is a prime spot for whale watching.
The cache is in a regular size clear plastic container. Original contents make no difference now since that was long ago.
