Geocache Description:

This small town (in 2000 the population was 914 people) north of the Missouri River from Great Falls was called Little Chicago long agobecause it existed in the actual shadow of the mighty copper and zinc smelters and refineries of the Anaconda Copper Mining Co. It took its moniker from Chicago Illinois the American industrial giant of the period. All of the Ore was brought by train from Butte and Anaconda for processing because of the cheap power produced by Black Eagle Dam at the foot of what was and still is Smelter hill. Like its namesake Little Chicago was heavily populated with immigrants who still give it a unique flavor with ethnic foods, games and traditions. They treasure their independence too. They told the Great Falls city manager to take a hike recently when he suggested annexation. When you see the place near the cache go inside and check it out, especially if you consider yourself handy with a cue.
