Basic Algebra Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

pandyandy: On second thought I think it is best to just archive this cache now. I will go out and pull the container on this Sunday. I still have three other caches at this park that are doing well.

Geocache Description:

The above coordinates are for the closest parking lot at Laumeier Park. Please use the parking lot and observe the posted park hours.

Remember when you were in school and the teachers told you that you would need basic algebra in your everyday life and then, in all the years after, you found that you have never had to use it again? Well to find this cache you will have to remember how to solve some basic algebra problems, or you can ask your children, or maybe even your grandchildren for help as kids in grade school are being exposed to algebra these days and are probably being told the same thing by their teachers (HA-HA).

To find the cache location you need to solve the following four basic algebra problems:

Problem #1) Solve for “A”
2A = 16

Problem #2) Solve for “B”
4B + 3 = 27

Problem #3) Solve for “C”
3C + 2 = (5 x 7)

Problem #4) Solve for “D”
12.5 (3 - 1) = 5D - (2 + 3)

Now take those answers and add them into the above parking coordinates as shown below.
Note: “C” is a double-digit number. Use the full number in place of “C”.

N38º 32.787 + .0AB = N38º 32.???
W90º 25.073 + .CD = W90º 25.???

Then go and find it.

Now, I think that it’s only fair that if some of you old timers had to ask the young ones for help with the algebra problems that the below hint should make the young ones ask the old timers for help to answer this question.
If you are able to do both the problems and the hint on your own then good for you, but you need to get out and do something. Oh yeah, you are. It’s Geocaching!
