This cache is located in a little known cemetery off West Oxmoor Road close to Shannon Road. It has as residents some of the original inhabitants of Oxmoor Valley when it was an agricultural community. There are some headstones dating back to the 1870's. This cemetery covers a few acres in the woods and has several sunken and unmarked graves around (one has even been dug up). My old Boy Scout troop used to clear the area occasionally but it appears that nothing has been done to the cemetery in some time and visitors are probably rare. Parking can be done across the street at Oxmoor Orthodontics (I have permission from the owner) or at the General Pest Control parking lot. If you park at the Orthodontist PLEASE DON'T USE THE LOT DURING WEEKDAY AFTERNOONS as they are quite busy then. Be VERY careful crossing the street as it can be quite busy at times. The easiest access up the bank to the woods is by the traffic lights where the green straight arrows are located or by the utility pole across from Happy Lane. Other paths can be made into the woods with varying degrees of difficulty. The log is in a capped tube inside another "unique-to-the-area" larger outer container. There is a lot of overhead cover and my GPSr only showed 16 feet of accuracy. There is a LOT of Poison Ivy in the area. Remember that you are in a cemetery and that proper reverence is due the inhabitants, even though the area is not cared for very well. Don't give geocachers a bad name. 4/24/08 - Area was cleared fairly well late last fall so the landmark for the cache has changed. Cache disappeared in February so I replaced it with a like container in a more secure spot at the same location. 4/25/09 - The cache was again missing (after the FBI had found it). I replaced it in the same spot as before. Please cover it well after replacing so it will remain there for awhile.
