Geocache Description:

This is located on Pierson Ridge in the Skylands Manor section of Ringwood State Park

According to a 1937 map of the Skylands estate, there was a flag pole on the top of Pierson Ridge. Judging from the remains, it appears that it was not your everyday flag pole or that it was replaced by a fire tower at one time. (According to one website, there was a fire tower on Pierson Ridge from 1973 to 1983.)
The cache is located about 50 feet off of the Pierson Ridge Trail (Blue) and is near the site of the flag pole. The remains of the flag pole/fire tower are on a small island where the carriage road splits.
There is a S.A.M. Memorial Geocoin for the first finder.
