Finding Menhirs
The location of this
cache is on a nature trail in the
heart of this pretty suburb. The trail is used by all and
sundry so please be vigilant and do
not give the game away. The cache is hidden very close to
some of the inhabitants so activate your stealth buttons before
commencing on the trail.
The posted co-ordinates
will NOT take you to the cache. To find the exact location
you will need to solve the following.
Asterix
and Co
ASTERIX, the hero of
these adventures is a shrewd, cunning little warrior. All
perilous missions are immediately entrusted to
him.
OBELIX, is
Asterix’s inseparable friend who also happens to be a menhir
delivery man by trade. He is always ready to drop everything
and go off on a new adventure with Asterix.
Getafix,
is the venerable village druid who gathers mistletoe and brews
magic potions.
Cacofonix,
the bard. Opinion is divided as to his musical talents.
He thinks he’s a genius while everyone else thinks he’s
unspeakable. As long as he doesn’t speak or sing
everybody likes him.
Vitalstatistix,
is the chief of the tribe who is also majestic, brave and
hot-tempered. He is respected by his men and feared
by his
enemies.
After a long night of
feasting and merry-making, Asterix and Co awaken to find that all
of Obelix’s menhirs, which he is supposed to deliver before
the end of the week, have mysteriously vanished! On searching
further, they discover that whoever is responsible for the
disappearance of the mehirs has not been too careful in covering up
their tracks. They have left behind clues and a faint trail
which they decide to follow.
Along the way they
collect the clues they find but are disappointed to find that the
faint trail they are following comes to an abrupt end and they have
no idea which way to continue. There is much arguing and
shouting as they all try to decide how they are to continue.
Asterix (being the shrewd man that he so obviously is) says that he
has an idea, one which is sure to lead them to recover all the
missing menhirs.
They assemble all of the
clues and begin to unscramble the mystery by using whatever
resources they have. Unfortunately, they are unable to
demystify the riddles. So they decide to enlist the help of
other, more qualified people, whom they know will be able to help
them solve this mystery.
Here are the clues.
Please help them unravel the mystery in order for them to recover
the missing menhirs as Obelix has become very depressed and is
sitting with his chin in his hands and is unable to eat anything,
not even wild
boar!

Take the first letter
of all your answers, one each from a-j, and convert it to a number
using A=1, B=2, C=3, etc. Then adjust by doing the following:
1 - 23, 2 - 16, 3 - 8, 4 - 20, 5 - 11, 6 - 23, 7 + 0, 8 - 10, 9 + 0
and 10 - 1. Slot these into a, b, c, d, e, f, g, h, i and
j. These are the co-ordinates for all the missing
menhirs.
Once you have
the final co-ordinates, please continue along the trail together
with Asterix and Co until you locate the missing
menhirs. A very grateful Obelix is waiting for you at the end
of the trail.
