Located in the (almost) abandoned cemetery by the (almost) abandoned hospital on Napier hill.
++Redesigned 14 October 2007++
Owing to the council clearing a lot of the undergrowth around the cemetry, the original cache became unviable and was vandalised to death. All of the contents including the travelbug that was in it at the time have been stolen.
The replacement is hidden within a couple of metres of the original so the co-ordinates are still valid. The main landmark is still the same. However the cache is now a micro and the level of difficulty is greater. The hint has obviously changed. Please cover the container well when you put it back.
The cache is now a metal micro and holds only a paper logbook. BYO pen, and write your name and date only. Please let me know when the sheet is full and I'll replace it and scan it to the gallery.
There has been some confusion about where to park and walk from...most folks find it easier to start from the cemetery gates at S 39 29.340 E 176 54.120 but you can come up from the bottom if you want a challenge!
GPS signals here are notoriously unreliable (read the logs!) and if you decide not to use the hint you will probably need a couple of attempts.
This seems to be a popular cache and I am very grateful to all the people who have contacted me privately about getting it back on line.
The original description is retained below. Good luck!

This cache is the first planted by Team Maynard. It's a clear plastic screw top container. It's placed in a long disused part of the old cemetery. I've lived in Napier all my life and played in this cemetery as a kid, and had never been to this part of the cemetery until today. So you probably won't just stumble over it!
There are occasional drunks hanging around, and the terrain is kind of steep and slippery in parts so you might not like to do this one at night.
Due to the location on the hill, the GPS reception isn't that great and accuracy is only about +-10 metres, so a bit of searching may well be needed. The encrypted clue below pretty much gives it away.
Original contents of this cache were: Logbook and pen, soccer yo-yo, plastic camel, Singapore keyring, blue gel pen, skull and crossbones tattoo.
Although the cemetery hasn't had anyone buried in it since WW II, please still be respectful of the departed. The cache is very close to a gravesite, so please wander with care.
