Geocache Description:

This is an easy level walk along the old Stump Club Road at the Wilmore Reservoir. The walk in and back is just a little over a half a mile.

If you've never experienced the serene beauty of the Wilmore Reservoir before, be prepared to be pleasantly surprised. Recently acquired by the Cambria Somerset Authority, this 195 acre dam has been opened for public use and offers a variety of recreational activities including hunting, fishing, boating, and hiking. There have been many improvements during the past year such as new picnic pavilions, a boat launch, and restrooms. All have been added in a way that preserve and enhance the wonderful scenery around this dam.

You can now access the East Recreation Area by entering through Patrick Road in Munster Township. Once you enter Patrick Road from Munster Road, it is about 2.9 miles until you reach the parking area. The drive will follow a gravel road along a picturesque mixture of fields and hillsides, turning to a dirt surface as it begins to wind down towards the dam.

When you reach the parking area, you will find yourself in a lovely spot equipped with picnic tables, a pavilion, and a restroom. You can begin your hike by following the trail that exits the parking area just behind the pavilion. The cache is hidden in an obvious place just off the trail. There's a bonus prize for the "first to find". Good Luck!
