Geocache Description:

A short walk along dovers hill with stunning views over the vale of Evesham.

The name dover commemorates the reviver of a tradition of sport on this site "the Cotswold olimpicks." Robert Dover was a Norfolk man who moved to the Campden area in the late 16c or early 17c.He practiced law in London while living in Campden and his clients included the Shakespeares of Stratford and Richard Catesby,cousin of Robert Catesby of gunpowder plot fame. The games were held on the thursday and friday after whitsun and included wrestling,leaping,dancing,pitching the bar,leapfrog and walking on the hands,together with the peculiary cotswold pastimes of singlestick fighting and shin kicking.
