Geocache Description:

A classic hide in a pristine setting.

This is the first of 3 caches now hidden in the Queen's River preserve. The preserve is a 151 acre site in Exeter, owned and managed by The Nature Conservancy. The area features include clearly delineated trails running along side the pristine Queen's river, a small and rare pine barren habitat a very old family burial plot and a large hay field. I have hiked here several times and have been struck by it's cleanliness. Please help in maintaining it's condition by carrying out everything you carry in.

You can find more information about The Queen's River Preserve at The Nature Conservancy's website

This cache is located about 0.4 miles from the parking area. The path is a well maintained, if seldom used road, that leads straight to the cache. Along the way be sure to look for the small pine barren project to your right. Several trails diverge to the left. Feel free to explore these, though they won't bring you to this cache.

The cache is located near the western boundary of the preserve. Please do not venture past the bridge or you will be trespassing on private land. The boundary is well marked. The hide is a classic one, and in keeping with the Nature Conservancy's request, it is not far off the trail. If you cross the bridge, you have gone too far. Do not confuse the cache with a nearby Letterbox which is usually soaked and resting in a Ziploc bag. The cache coordinates were taken under medium cover, averaged for 10 minutes with approximately 9.4ft of accuracy. The container is an ammo box.

Congratulations to Marvalus and Blackstone Val for the FTF!

To continue your walk through the preserve, continue on to "A Bend in the River" [GCYT06] approximately 0.4 from this cache or "Hanging in the Balance" [GCYT0G}. Good Luck.
