Tinkerbell's Treasure Hunt Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

DresselDragons: After visiting our cache today, we decided to archive it. It was amazing how much the gem hiding spot has degraded through the years. We did manage to find the sapphires, rubies and diamonds, but it took a lot of very active searching. Thank-you to everyone who has helped keep the jewels safe during the past 6 years.

Geocache Description:

This is a cache for kids, or those still young at heart.

Believing is just the beginning…

Captain Hook is after Queen Clarion’s jewels. She has scattered them in the woods in an effort to stop the Captain. Since they are no longer safe in the queen’s home, she is entrusting them to our children for safekeeping. If each child possesses a complete set of jewels, the Captain will never collect them all! The queen has informed Tinkerbell of their hiding spots and gave her pixie-sized treasure chest to collect the gems. Unfortunately, Tinkerbell cannot remember where the queen hid them! Tink has hidden the treasure chests in an ammo box in a dead tree (not fallen) close to jewels’ hiding spots. Your job is to help Tinkerbell find all of the “precious” gems.

Each of the hidden gems helps to protect Pixie Hollow from scoundrels like Captain Hook and gives special powers to those that possess them. These are the jewels that you seek:

Diamonds (white) bring good luck and strength
Rubies (red) promote freedom and power
Sapphires (blue) help make your dream come true
Pearls promote love, success, and happiness

Once you retrieve a pixie-sized treasure chest from the cache container. Your hunt for the jewels can then begin…

Grown-up stuff…

This adventure can be a 2 stage multi, or a pixie treasure hunt, your choice. The cache starts at a small playground in Washington Park. Locate the plaque on a rock at the posted coords. Use the last 2 digits of the year of Paul’s death (19XY) to solve for the final coords:

N 40 10.1 (X-1) Y
W 080 13.057

Proceed to N 40 10.188, W 080 13.065 (trailhead) to continue your search. IF you find a gem box before the cache, remember where you found it, and continue your search for the ammo box. When you find the main cache, your quest can end OR you can hunt for pixie treasure. The cache container has room only for small trades and small travel bugs. Inside the ammo box is a lock-n-lock container loaded with mini treasure chests…this is NOT cache swag. Please take only 1 box per child (if supplies are low, please post a note or drop us an email). Here is where the fun begins! Hidden 6 feet south of the cache is a fallen, “naked” (no bark) tree. Closely examine that tree; there are 4 small caches (2.25” x 2.25” boxes) hidden along the length of the tree, each containing a different jewel. Take one gem from each, and you have your own pixie treasure to take home. If you are caching with kids, please let them seek the jewels. We’ve included hints for each of these stages, so you can help them, if they need it. If you are not caching with kids, feel free to seek the treasure yourself (no cheating and looking at the hints), but make sure that you find a child protect the treasure! Collect a complete set and you’ve saved the day, and thwarted Captain Hook!
