Bloom Furnace Cemetery is located about two mile from State Route #140 on Bloom Furnace Road in Bloom Township. Bloom Furnace is a historical locale that today is but a memory. It was another one of those communities that rose up around an iron furnace. The Bloom Furnace was built in 1832 and operated until 1894. It’s ruins are now totally destroyed. A logging operation is located at it’s former site on the hill.
When the blast furnaces went out, the communities that blossomed around them became ghost towns. A cemetery, a creek, a road and a church still bear the namesake and are all that is still in existence today. Historical references note what once was, and a handful of residential homes and farms are all that is left but a memory.
Many early settlers to this area find their resting place in the old cemetery. The Cook family settled here early. Many of their ancestry rest in peace here, along with other hearty individuals that worked the land and furnaces here.
Cache is a camouflaged large pill bottle with a log book and small trade items. Bring a pen.
