Geocache Description:

This is a very easy to find cache. It was placed during Fire Prevention Week 2006. It's available during regular business hours 8-4 Monday through Friday except holidays. If the office is closed, just take a picture and post it with your log

In the old days, it was customary to keep a dog in the fire station. The traditional breed was the Dalmatian, and probably the most common name for the fire dog was Sparky. Nowadays, Sparky is the spokesdog for fire prevention campaigns throughout the U.S.

The cache is located inside a public building dedicated to fire and life safety. Remember, it’s INSIDE the building. The coordinates will take you to the front door. All you have to do is go inside and tell the person at the front desk, “I’m a fire safe geocacher.” Or, if you're shy, you can explain you're there for the geocache. It is placed somewhere inside the front lobby for you to find.

We have permission to place this cache, and the people working in the building are aware of it. It contains items related to safety, fire prevention, and fire fighting. If you have fire-related items to trade, that’s perfect. If you have other items, that’s fine too; feel free to trade. If you find yourself here without a trading item but still see something you really like, take it. We’ll make sure the cache stays stocked with fun and interesting stuff. While you’re here, check out the brochures on the rack and take a couple of minutes to check your blood pressure, too.

There's been a slight change from the original placement. The department has decided to not always have someone at the front desk. However, they will have the front door unlocked during business hours 8-4, so you may enter. We've moved the cache from behind the counter to a spot in the lobby so it's accessible.

REMEMBER: This cache is available only during regular business hours. That’s 8 to 4, Monday through Friday except holidays.
