A small cache to enjoy while reading an neat historical marker
When you see the outcroppings of yellow limestone, you would probably do as our ancestors did, and name this area Yellow Bluffs. This is the spot of Sarasota’s first inhabitants, the prehistoric and Calusa Indians. This area was named Yellow Bluffs and was the homesite of William H. Whitaker, Sarasota’s first known white settler. This spot was also the spot of escape of Judah P. Benjamin, a member of the Confederate Cabinet who fled America at the end of the War Between the States in 1865. A lot of history right here. And a neat little cache.
In the hustle and bustle of Sarasota today, you have plenty of room and plenty of privacy to find this little hide and see the historical area. The only muggles you may find here would be someone else escaping the stress of the day and relaxing during lunch. If there are muggles around please practice your best stealth to keep this fun for the next cachers who discover this neat little spot.
This is a decon container and contains a log and some small trade items but does not contain a pen so bring your own. This should not be a hard find but there are some neat things to see here, including a neat historical marker telling the story for this location.
Enjoy the hunt,
IMPG
