Rainbow Series - Orange

This cache is situated on Constitution Hill at northern end of Aberystwyth Promenade. The ascent starts on a rough track next to the Cliff Railway Terminus at N52 25 338 W004 05 044 or you can take the easy way up and use the Cliff Railway. Take the first right turn on the track to make the climb. Please keep to the marked tracks as there are steep, unprotected slopes.

THE TRACK IS NOT SUITABLE FOR BUGGIES OR WHEELCHAIRS

Constitution Hill
This rocky outcrop rises 100m above sea level and gives wonderful views of Cardigan Bay and Snowdonia. The Cliff Railway was built in 1896 using a water balance system and was converted to electric power in 1921. Trains leave every few minutes and travel at about four miles per hour, giving plenty of time to admire the view unfolding behind you.

At the summit there are toilets, a cafe, frisbee golf, a camera obscura and gift shop. There is also a free bouncy castle when weather conditions are suitable. The cafe is open all year round, times vary according to the season; it opens as a steak house "Y Consti" on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights until late.

The Cliff Railway and summit are accessible to buggies and wheelchairs. The coast path towards Clarach Bay has now been surfaced and is suitable for all access.

For more information on facilities please telephone 01970 617642.

With thanks to the Management of Constitution Hill for allowing the placement of this cache.

Safety Notes
Whilst searching for the cache it is not necessary to go near the cliff edge or to stray from the marked paths or tracks. There is no need to search in gorse or take any undue risks!

Cache is a medium size plastic container.

UPDATE ON THE LOCATION OF THIS CACHE
Due to maintenance works in this area last year the original location was destroyed and the cache misplaced.

Today 1st April 2017 I have replaced the whole cache, which is now in a camo bag for safety as it is quite visible from the path.
I was unable to get new coordinates today but you will find the cache as follows:
Start from the location given above and continue uphill on the same path for about 25ft to where the hedgeline starts, up on the bank. Just below the first hedge the cache is hidden in full view but well disguised. You do not need to CLIMB onto the bank, but you may need a step up to reach it.

For more detailed information see the hint below. New coordinates will be added as soon as I can.

PLEASE REPLACE IT EXACTLY AS FOUND TO PREVENT IT FALLING DOWN THE BANK ONTO THE PATH

There are a few very small orange trinkets as swaps as this was an emergency visit. Please leave the blue pen in the cache. Thanks

Happy caching
