Geocache Description:

October 10, 1699 a fleet of eight canoes bearing a party of French explorers entered the mouth of Root River.

These were the first known white men to visit what is now Racine County. The earliest names for Racine were Indian versions of Root River, "Chippecotton".

This is a little known / neighborhood park that sits high above Lake Michigan.

The views are spectacular. This park joins up with Cliffside Park to the North.

Parking is available at: N42°49.127', W87°48.508' on the East side of the road. Please do not try to park closer to the cache and abide the posted no parking signs.

It is approximately .18 miles to the cache location. Enjoy the view on the way to the cache location. Bring a camera and snap a view pictures and attach them to your log for others to see.

The cache is camoed and blends in extremely well. Please bring your own pen/pencil there is room for small swag in the cache.

There is minimal bushwhacking required however the terrain is uneven.
Please replace the cache exactly as you found it. The area near the cache is in Dire need of CITO. So please watch your step and if so inclined remove a few pieces of trash on your way out.

Wet or snowy conditions will increase the terrain rating. Stealth may be required depending on the time of year and day.

Don’t forget to stop in Cliffside Park and grab the caches there. Hey, why not you’re in the area.
