This cache is hidden along a nature preserve adjacent to an
office complex. I used to work in this office complex a few years
ago, and at lunchtime we'd often head to the little cafe in the
building that overlooks the preserve. It's got a great view of the
lake, rushes, and surrounding trees. The food is great and the
staff are friendly, so stop on in if they're open.
There are interesting varieties of fish, turtles, and alligators
in the lake, and flocks of egrets, herons, and ibises can often be
seen hanging out in the cypress tree in the middle of the lake. If
you happened to work late, you might spy a raccoon prospecting in
the garbage cans along the boardwalk. Let us know in your log
entries what you saw here.
The best time to visit this cache is at sunset when the birds
are coming home to roost for the evening. Although the cache is in
a public nature preserve, nighttime visitors seem to attract
negative attention from the security guards that patrol the nearby
office complex.
You might have some trouble with finding the exact location ...
the trees and buildings were making getting a lock somewhat tricky.
However, they should get you reasonably close enough to start
hunting.
You're looking for a 1-oz paint jar. Please replace the
container securely. Good luck!
This is a tricky hide (note the difficulty rating). If you're
looking for something in the area that's a bit easier to find,
check out the nearby
All Quiet on the Westin Front cache.
