Dinton Butterflies Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Starkey444: Apologies.
I was hoping to re-site this somewhere else in the park as the Council were unhappy with me using the location I had used. Simple fact is I never got round to finding an alternative. Thanks for prompting me - I'll archive this now.

Cheers

Geocache Description:

This is a very simple mystery cache, suitable for beginners. Suitable for a cache and dash as the distance to the cache from the main car-park is relatively short (less than 100m) Great for youngish kids who can’t walk too far. Warning – wear wellies in winter or wet weather as it can get wet and/or muddy around here. Also, when you get to the stream, PLEASE keep an eye on the toddlers.

(NOTE: I checked the cache area after heavy downpours in December and noted that the small field leading to the cache was very waterlogged. Wellies would have sufficed - anything less would mean wet feet! But there is another route - for the 'water-phobic' - simply detour around the boggy grass by taking the main footpath over to the right -you'll go a little past the cache but will find a gate leading back towards it - this route is usable even after very heavy rain - so no excuses)

This delightful corner of Dinton Pastures is the Junior Rangers Nature Reserve – see if the youngsters can find anything in the insect traps. Also, get them to spot the bird boxes high in the trees. You’ll also find a great place for playing pooh-sticks, but mind the younguns don’t fall through the large gaps on the bridge.

Here we go....

Park in the car park at Dinton Pastures close to the co-ordinates above (note there is a car park charge of £1 between 10am and 4pm)
The co-ordinates are for a sign with butterflies on it.
On the sign is information about butterflies. You'll find the sign in the picnic area behind the ranger cabin (behind the recycling bins)

Answer the following…

• The adult of the Large White can lay as many as ABB eggs in C minutes
• Female Small Tortoiseshells lay DB-ABB eggs on the bottom of a stinging nettle leaf
• All butterflies have E legs

Now go and find the cache at
