Geocache Description:

This multi cache is hidden in Edness K. Wilkins State Park. It is a fee area.

I decided to take a break from the Chronicles series in order to place a very special cache in memory of our little canine friend Chipper who gave us 12 happy years of companionship. Chipper was an Australian terrier. He died in January of 2005. He always enjoyed going for walks and would have loved walking at this park. I brought him here once before he died. It is my favorite place to walk.

Heading east out of Evansville on Hwy. 20/26 you will eventually come to Edness K. Wilkins State Park. It is a fee area --$4 per vehicle for residents $6 for non-residents. Plan to stay a while and enjoy the park. Weekends tend to be busier than weekdays. The park is open daily from 7 AM to 10 PM. For more information go to (visit link) Thanks to Park Superintendent Rick Anderson for granting me permission to place this multi-cache in the park.

The coordinates given above are for the Mountain View parking area. You may start walking on the paved pathway here or drive on to the Cottonwood parking area near the first stage. The 6 stages of this cache are placed around the paved walking path. It loops around the park, in and out of a walk-in area, back in and around the park. It is 1.6 miles long. The caches range in size from a 1/2”x5” cylinder to a tall jerky jar. Most are micro. Some are natural materials in hopes of creating less interest for all the explorers who visit this area. It would be a good idea to print out a copy of this page because some of the clues are divided between this page and the caches. You may be able to find these caches just from the clues. However, each stage contains the coordinates for the following stage. Since only the last 3 digits of each portion of the coordinates change you will sometimes see only 6 digits given.

The final cache is filled with toy dogs and doggy items (no food though), but feel free to trade anything you can fit in or just take a dog and leave nothing. I’ll refill it with doggy items from time to time. When you sign the log it would be neat if you would list the name or names of your favorite canine friends past or present. After you are finished, go back to the fork in the path. It will take you back to the Mountain View parking area.
