This cache is located along a mountain bike and hiking trail running between Reston and Lake Fairfax Park; the cache is located on Fairfax County Park Authority property and is available during daylight hours only. The trail may be slippery or muddy after heavy rains.
Parking is available at the trailhead on Michael Faraday Drive, near the ice rink, at N 38° 57.010, W 077° 19.939; take the narrow dirt trail up the hill at the top of the cul-de-sac, or access the trail from the left side of the upper parking lot for the rink.
On a beautiful fall afternoon, we went looking for some caches in this part of Reston, and were so excited to find this secluded trail in the woods. It reminded us of a favorite hiking spot in West Virginia; we could almost believe we had been transported far away from the hustle and bustle of our busy suburban area!
Please stay on the trail until within 25 feet of the cache coordinates. The cache is a camoflaged 7x5x3" plastic container.
This cache has been placed with the permission of the Fairfax County Park Authority.
