Wind and Water, Sun and Fun Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Bundyrumandcoke: Looks like this one has gone through a mulcher. As I no longer live in Gladstone, I will archive this one, so hopefully a local cacher will place another cache around here. This one stumped a few very knowlegable cachers in its lifetime. I personally saw Everlasting pick it up, and discard it as not being the container, only to have to come back to it a number of minutes later, and realise her mistake.

Cheers

Bundy

Geocache Description:

Spinnaker Park.

Spinnaker Park, on the bundwall between Gladstone Harbour and the Gladstone Marina, is a fantastic day and evening use area provided by the Gladstone (now Central Queenland) Port Authority. Only about 5 years old, it features BBQ's, picnic tables, clean toilets, grassed areas, walking tracks, and a safe stinger net enclosed swimming area during the summer months. This area is very well maintained by the Port Authority for the general use and anjoyment of locals and visitors alike.
You can watch the comings and goings of Queenslands busiest, (and Australias 4th busiest) port. Ships of all sizes and cargoes berth here, with the most prominant infrastructure to the location being the RG Tanna coal loading terminal, which loads in excess of 50-60 million tonnes of coal annually for export. The loading terminal is currently undergoing expansion, so this figure will only go higher.
In addition, pleasure craft of all sizes use the marina and harbour, with Gladstone having the highest, per capita, ratio of boat ownership in Queensland.
Make sure you go for a walk to the end of the park, closest to the entrance to the creek and marina, to watch the wild dolphins frollicking and playing. These dolphins call this area home.
