Water Works Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Balayang: As there's been no cache to find for a long time, and it appears to have been abandoned, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

Geocache Description:

Mangrove Creek Dam is situated around 30 minutes drive from the Gosford exit on the F3 Freeway. The drive is certainly worth the experience. Mangrove Creek Dam is an ideal location for a quiet secluded family picnic featuring excellent BBQ and picnic facilities.

The rock filled dam is 80m high with a concrete face and provides storage for regional urban centres of Gosford and Wyong. The embankment is made from low strength sandstones and siltstones as these were available on site during the construction.

The water level at this dam has reduced dramatically in the last few years as more pressure is placed on the system due to expanding populations and increasing numbers of visitors during peak holiday times.

Take some time out to visit the observation platform and note the old water levels on the dam and then rethink your water usage habits.

This cache has a message and I hope it is one of the more frequently found caches on the Central Coast.
