Ça s’est passé par une superbe soirée parsemée d’étoiles. L’air n’avait jamais été aussi pur. Il faisait neuf degrés Celsius et demi... mais c’était normal pour cette période de l’année! Tout à coup, un magnifique spectacle s’offrit à nous. Dans un éblouissant éclat de lumière, une météorite déchira la nuit pour aller s’écraser quelque part sur l’île de Montréal à 23H59m08s.
La secousse primaire fut enregistrée 4 secondes plus tard par l’option "séismographe" du four à micro-ondes du restaurant Le Surfin. Nicole et Donald, s’y étant attablés pour prendre une pause, ne se doutaient pas qu’un peu plus tôt en fin d’après-midi, ils se trouvaient à moins de 100m du lieu de la collision. Naturellement, ils venaient d'y trouver une cache.
Réglé comme une horloge atomique, le Coucou assourdissant du resto sonna minuit et masqua bien évidemment le bruit de l’impact. Quand à moi, alors que je me trouvais à la coordonnée ci-haut mentionnée, la secousse passait sous ma voiture 51 secondes plus tôt (à cette heure là, j'étais en route vers la maison).
Ironiquement, l'impact a eu lieu sur un panneau d'Arrêt (STOP). Mais la météorite a rebondit... 59 mètres plus loin dans une direction de 120 degrés (vrai). Comme tout ça ne date pas d'hier, il est maintenant grand temps de retrouver l'obus qui s'est retrouvé perché dans les arbres plus loin. Pour se faire, vous avez deux options. Les calculs (les vrais), ou encore beaucoup, beaucoup, beaucoup de lecture de logs associé à de l’instinct et de la chance. Je vous suggère la méthode scientifique.
Avis aux vrais scientifiques... Pas besoins de vous dire que la pression atmosphérique était normale. Comme le résultat des calculs peuvent différer de quelques mètres d'un outil de calcul à l'autre, le panneau d'Arrêt peut servir pour vous calibrer rendu sur place. Que Mapsource et Wikipedia soient avec vous.
P.S. Je vous recommande fortement de ne pas attendre à l'été pour faire cette cache. L'endroit est réputé désagréable en été. D'autant plus que c'est une cache bien hivernale!
P.P.S. (Edit 2019-09-01) La formule à utiliser doit être arrondi à +0.6 et non plus précise que ça.

It happened by a superb starry night. The air had never been so pure. The thermometer shown nine and a half degrees Celsius... but it was normal for that period of the year! Suddenly, a splendid spectacle was offered to us. In a dazzling flash of light, a meteorite tore the night to go crashing somewhere on the island of Montreal at 23H59m08s.
The primary jolt was recorded 4 seconds later by the option "seismograph" of the microwave oven of the restaurant Le Surfin. Nicole and Donald, sat at a table to take a break, did not suspect that earlier at the end of the afternoon, they were within 100m from the impact. Naturally, they were finding a cache.
Accurate like an atomic clock, the deafening Cuckoo of the restaurant announced midnight and obviously masked the noise of the impact. As for me, whereas I was at the co-ordinate mentioned above, the jolt passed under my car 51 seconds earlier (at this time, I was on my way back home).
Ironically, the impact happened on a Stop (ARRET) sign. But the meteorite bounced... 59 meters away in a direction of 120 degrees (truth). As this event not happened yesterday, it is now time to find the shell which is now perched further in the trees. To do that, you have two options. Calculations (real calculations), or many, many, many readings of logs associated with instinct and chance. I suggest you the scientific method.
Advice the thru scientists... I don’t need to tell you that the atmospheric pressure was normal. As the result of calculations can differ few meters from a calculation tool to another one, the Stop sign can be used to adjust your position on site. May Mapsource and Wikipedia with you.
P.S. I strongly recommend you to not wait until the summer to look for this cache. That place is considered unpleasant during summer. And overall, it’s a winter cache!
