Geocache Description:

A scenic drive to an easy find.

Chatawa

It has been brought to my attention (thanks Wadcutter) that there is a 10' max height on the road. I never paid any attention to it!!

This cache is located just off of a really cool road in Mississippi. My dad still speaks of this road fondly, as he road his Harley down this very road back in the ‘40s. The road has been straightened out a bit over the years, but is still a wonderful (if short) road to drive on.

If you come in from Hwy 51 you will pass right by an Artesian well on your left just before you cross the railroad tracks. These wells are fairly common up and down the Tangipahoa river, and the water is rumored to have all manner of health benefits. Please feel free to bring a container and catch some. You will probably encounter a person or two collecting the water.

Watch out for trains as you cross the tracks, and shortly after you will find yourself crossing the Tangipahoa river bridge. Very pretty!

You will then find yourself in a nice “Mississippi Natural Area” for a bit before the cache is located.

Don’t stop when you find the cache, continue on East and turn right to see the “Lady of the Pines” retirement home (for nuns) with a very old cemetery to your left.

I found reference to the “Chatawa Monster” on this link below, check it out. We found no monsters, just a really nice area.
(visit link)

If you do encounter a monster, please report it!!

Another link below has reference to a mysterious bathtub, which I know nothing about. If anyone can get the story, again please report it. Sounds like a good place for another cache!!

First find will discover a silver Kennedy half, a travel bug, and some trinkets.

There might be the odd muggle about, but we did not see even one when we placed the cache.
