Geocache Description:

Adopted from doveladyva, originally hidden in 2006 and formerly known as "Red, White and Blue". Feel free to log this one again if you found it previously under the old name.

There is ample parking right in front on Forest Road but be careful pulling out because of the curve in the road.

I called this "Another Historic Asbury Cemetery" because I have another cache across town called "Asbury Historic Cemetery and Chapel". You will find that many Methodist cemeteries and churches are named "Asbury" after Francis Asbury, one of the first two bishops of the Methodist Episcopal Church in the United States.

In 1835, the citizens of what was then known as Mulberry Ridge, erected a church called "Asbury Methodist Church" on this lot at the base of the hill.
The cemetery has been in use since the 1840s. I'm not sure what became of the original church building but I have read that the original cemetery records were lost in a fire which leads me to believe the building was lost in that same fire. The steps you see led from the church to the cemetery up the hill. In 1920, land was purchased on Beechmont Avenue and the name of the church was changed the to "Asbury Methodist Church of Forestville". In 1950, they became known as "Anderson Hills United Methodist Church". Some of the graves are unmarked and some gravestones are in need of repair. I saw several Civil War and WWI veterans buried here.

If you have a chance, check out the waterfall across the street.
