From Rathdowney you can head to several bush campgrounds in the
area or farmstays/cabins etc.
To the south of town are several bushwalks in the surrounding
Border ranges and National Parks (and several caches along those
walks)
There are several basic stores at Rathdowney, fuel, newsagent,
pub.
On the south side of the town is a park with toilet facilities and
playground.
Before setting out on any of the bushwalks, ensure you are familiar
with the terrain etc of the area.
The plaque at this lookout commemorates Captain Logan’s solo
climb of Mount Barney 3 August 1838. He had previously discovered
the mountain in his major expedition of 1837.
GPSr reception was fluctuating when cache was placed - 5m
accuracy in most of the area, except at GZ when it went up as high
as 20m !!! - it is not to difficult to work out where the cache is
once in the area. Tip - It is NOT under
the bouganvillea so don't get scratched looking for it there
:-)
